Colors of the Wind


Colors are very visual and evoke the true feelings from a painting or picture. The main colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. An acronym to remember this order of the rainbow is ROYGBP. R-Starting with red, it can be represented as fire, heat and warmth. Red also means anger generally. Here in the United States religious organizations consider red as a symbol for prostitution and the devil which varies greatly from the commont thought that red is the color of deep devotion and love. O-The color orange is a power color, it is considered one of the healing colors. Orange generaly eveokes the feelings of enthusiasm and creativity. Some beleive that if you wear orange during time of stress it can help you balance your emotions. Y-Yellow is the color of wisdom and and it represents joy and happiness. Yellow brings energy like the warmth of a bright sunny day. People wear yellow to present a cherry uplifting effect. It is good luck to use yellow notepads. G-Green is usually assosciated with nature and fertility and life. Green means learning, growth, and harmony. Green jade is a sacred stone to asia. B-Blue is the coolest color, it is the color of the sky, ocean, twilight, and and sleep. All of these are very peaceful and and calm. Blue symbolizes the virgin mary. Blue gives a feeling of distance so painters use it to show perspective. P-Purple is the color of good judgment and it is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. purple has been used to symbolize magic, and mystery but also royalty. Now, all the colors have very different meanings in different countries.
Red
  • China: Good luck, celebration, summoning
  • Cherokees: Success, triumph
  • India: Purity
  • South Africa: Color of mourning
  • Russia: Bolsheviks and Communism
  • Eastern: Worn by brides
  • Western: Excitement, danger, love, passion, stop, Christmas (with green)

    Ireland: Religious (Protestants)

    Western: Halloween (with black), creativity, autumn


    Yellow


  • China: Nourishing
  • Egypt: Color of mourning
  • Japan: Courage
  • India: Merchants
  • Western: Hope, hazards, coward

    China: Green hats indicate a man's wife is cheating on him, exorcism


    India: Islam


    Ireland: Symbol of the entire country


    Western: Spring, new birth, go, Saint Patrick's Day, Christmas (with red)


    Blue


    Cherokees: Defeat, trouble


    Iran: Color of heaven and spirituality


    Western: Depression, sadness, conservative, corporate, "something blue" bridal tradition


    Purple


  • Thailand: Color of mourning (widows)
  • Western: Royalty
