Web 2.0 is not the semantic web. It has its differences such as it is surrounded around being a social thing. The second generation of the web is made for people to collaborate and share information online. The World Wide Web helps people share ideas easily and quickly because as soon as someone posts something online, someone else can read what you have posted. The whole idea behind the second generation of web is not the high technology which it has but rather the end result, which is social interaction and the collaboration of ideas. There are several different social websites such as facebook and myspace and twitter which are prime examples of the 2nd generation web. The biggest misconception these days is that the semantic web and the 2nd generation web is the same thing. But the semantic web is very different. The semantic web is based on machines This kind of web needs a human operator to use computer systems to perform the tasks required to find, search, and aggregate information. It is impossible for a computer to do these tasks without human guidance because web pages are specifically designed for human readers. Most people used Web 2.0 because most people are not looking for complexity online.
